STORY
Having fed, carried, and bathed seniors with dementia with deep respect for over 10 years, Jenny Li is no stranger to the sight of death. Yet when COVID-19 claimed her husband’s life overnight, she could not see him. Bearing this grief daily, Jenny is either working 16-hour shifts on the Chinese floor of the Jewish nursing home, cooking for her troubled son, or tidying her cluttered house. A mysterious love, however, carries Jenny submerging slowly from her grief.
No Memories Lost is an intimate portrayal of grieving in one Malaysian-Chinese immigrant family, that pierces into the inexpressible wound of the COVID-19 pandemic. As we witness how Jenny carries her wound, we see the only path of grieving, perhaps, is through the sufferings that we try to run away from.
Initiated during the News & Documentary program in New York University, this film is currently in post-production.
